Message from the CEO and the Chairman
We are pleased to present our annual report for the fiscal and calendar year 2022. This is our first annual report as the 1EdTech Consortium. Thank you to our many supporters around the world who have made our brand launch a huge success! The 1EdTech brand arose from our community’s united commitment and central role in enabling the foundation for an open, trusted, and innovative edtech ecosystem based upon the many breakthrough accomplishments of our members over our 25-year history.
1EdTech’s broad community collaboration accelerates the adoption of open standards-based products, enabling edtech ecosystems with better usability, rapid innovation, and lower cost. Suppliers that fully embrace the ecosystem save millions of dollars on engineering and development costs while becoming more responsive to the needs of their customers. The 1EdTech ecosystem—now nearing 10,000 certified products—works better together, opening up new vistas for educators and learners. Student-centered learning is enabled by access to the widest variety of digital applications and resources. Institutions can do a much better job of recognizing achievement. Data can be generated to help learners, faculty, and administrators understand progress and make adjustments.
The 1EdTech Board of Directors has guided the development and launch of the 1EdTech brand over five years, beginning in 2018. It was very gratifying that during 2022, the year we launched the new brand, we added a record 167 new members!
We cannot thank the 1EdTech community enough for making 2022 a very special year of the many accomplishments detailed in this annual report. Our organization grew to more than 800 member organizations in 28 countries across the globe. Within that ecosystem are more than 8,000 vetted edtech products that our community certified as meeting 1EdTech’s standards for quality and trust.
The future is promising. Especially now that we can, once again, meet in person. Our community thrives by working together, and we conduct more than 500 workgroup meetings a year. However, the best way to join a collaboration is to attend one of our events throughout the year: the Digital Credentials Summit in February, the Learning Impact Conference in June, the 1EdTech Japan Conference in August, 1EdTech Europe in September, and the Digital Curriculum and App Innovation Summit in November. Each of these events, like our community in general, is uniquely productive, insightful, and inspiring, and if you couldn’t make it to our 2022 events, we hope to see you in 2023. All events are open to non-members as well as members.
